About Us
German born Kristina Waitt has been involved in the tourism business for more than 25 years. While working as a travel agent for many years she studied Economics ; became an office manager, later area manager in business travel, and airport station manager of TUI – Europe’s leading tour operator.
In 1991 she visited South Africa for the first time - and fell in love with the country, especially the Lowveld. Over the next years, she visited South Africa another eight times.
Because traveling was always an important part of her life, she has intimate knowledge of what customers expect from accommodation –and this knowledge she is putting to excellent use in what Dreamfields Guesthouse has on offer.
British born Neil Waitt joined the British Army in 1986, and made his way through all the ranks in the Royal Engineers, finishing as a Warrant Officer Class II.
During his career he went on many tours of duty around the world. He also spent 18 years of his military life in Germany.
Neil’s first visit to South Africa was in December 2000. He also fell in love with the country.
Being an avid lover of wildlife, he went as far as actually doing his FGASA (Field Guiding Association of South Africa) Level 1 in the Kruger National Park.
Neil is also a qualified British Pub Landlord, and has impressive hygiene and health qualifications to his credit.
Background
Kristina always dreamed of having her own B&B or guesthouse in South Africa. Neil loved the idea, and since his first visit to the Lowveld they actually started planning to make their dream a reality.
Choosing Hazyview was a decision made by their hearts. Over and above the unparalleled beauty of the region, Hazyview is on the doorstep of many of the most wonderful tourist destinations in the world. The town is growing very fast, and offers everything a tourist wants.
The Difference
Dreamfields is not a “bush lodge” - it is located close to restaurants, shops, and other amenities. Many guesthouses are located in the “bush”, and getting to “civilization” is often not a nice experience.
Kristina and Neil do not only offer personal service to all their guests, using Kristina’s experience in the travel industry to their best advantage – being German and English they also know exactly what discerning guests from especially Europe and the United Kingdom expect from an accommodation establishment.
